Aeration & overseeding benefits

Aeration helps reduce compaction by loosening up tightly packed soils that have been damaged from weekly mowing, foot traffic, and other traffic on your lawn.

It allows for better drainage so that excess water doesn’t stay on top of the ground for too long after rain or regular irrigation, which can lead to fungal diseases like Brown Patch.

Makes it easier for water, nutrients, and air to reach grass roots.

Aeration is beneficial to your lawn helping it to remain healthy and lush.

Andrew & Ben’s Lawn Care has the most up to date equipment to ensure your lawn is aerated and over seeded correctly.

Aeration involves removing small plugs of soil from your lawn to allow oxygen, water and other essential nutrients direct access into root systems.  This will foster strong and healthy roots which will lead to better overall health of turf grass plants due to increased nutrient uptake.

Overseeding process involves spreading seed onto existing turf grass stands which helps fill in bare patches while also providing additional protection against weeds as well as helping maintain color uniformity between different areas within your landscape.

Services Included in aeration & overseeding

  • Flagging of irrigation heads (flagging of internet cables or invisible fence lines should be completed by your service provider)
  • Aerating (some areas may be not be accessible due to excessive slope, or tight access.)

Aeration & Overseeding Common Questions

How Long after overseeding should I Wait to mow?

We suggest that you do not mow for at least 2 weeks after seeding. This will allow the new seed time to mature and set the root system. It is also recommended you keep foot traffic to a minimum if possible.

When Should I fertilize?

Fertilizing can be completed right after the aeration is completed. It is actually best to fertilize at this time since the soil is no longer compacted, allowing nutrients a quick pathway to the root system.

How Often Should I water?

It is critical for the success of your new seed that you keep the area wet for 10-14 days, watering at least twice per day for at least 15 minutes will provide the best results.
